Green Warrior Protein Smoothie (Adapted from Oh She Glows)

Why do we love smoothies?  Because they are an easy, adaptable, portable, way to boost fruit and veggie intake.  MORE is always better when it comes to fruits and vegetables (specific recommendations can be calculated based on your age, gender, and level of activity but MORE is a great general guideline).

We start most days with a smoothie, blending up a variety of seasonal and frozen fruits and veggies, add almond milk, 100% Cricket Protein Powder, and voila! A delicious, filling breakfast to go.  Any leftovers are reserved for a great afterschool/work snack or post-workout recovery drink. 

Simple, delicious, full of nutrition from whole food sources . . . what’s not to love!?!

Oh She Glows is a great source of delicious, well thought out plant-based recipes, and the Green Warrior Protein Smoothie  is a favorite  to be sure we’re starting our days off on the right foot.  This smoothie is packed with folate, vitamin C, and Omega 3s; we add 100% Cricket Protein for all the additional benefits it offers.

The recipe makes a generous 3 cup serving, so we use a double serving of 100% Cricket Protein Powder and stick the breakfast leftovers in the fridge to enjoy later.  



1/2 cup fresh red grapefruit juice

1 large celery stalk, chopped (about 3/4 cup)

1 cup fresh or frozen cup lacinato kale (stems removed) or baby spinach 

4 tablespoons 100% Cricket Protein Powder

1 large sweet apple, cored and roughly chopped

1/3 cup frozen mango

1 cup chopped cucumber

2 tablespoons packed fresh mint leaves


1 1/2 teaspoons virgin coconut oil


Juice a red grapefruit and add 1/2 cup grapefruit juice to the blender

Add the kale, apple, cucumber, celery, 100% Cricket Protein Powder, mango, mint and coconut oil and blend on high until super smooth.  Add a bit of water if necessary to assist in blending and adjust the consistency of the smoothie.
